Backdating ema payments

EMA awards will be payable according to the total taxable income of your household.

If you're a UK citizen who normally lives in the UK you should be able to get EMA.

Payments are made every 2 weeks and are dependent upon students having 100% attendance (including authorised absences) at all of their timetabled classes each week.

The following eligibility criteria must be met: Students must have their 16th,17th, 18th, or 19th birthday on or between 2 July 2016 and 1 July 2017 and be starting or continuing in further education from September 2017.

You must be 16 years of age on 30 September 2017 to be eligible to apply for funding.

Please note the cut-off date for receiving application forms from school students for the academic year 2017/2018 is 31 March 2018. EMA is a weekly allowance of £30 which may be available to full time pupils receiving school education who achieve 100% attendance per week or young people who take part in Activity Agreements after they reach the statutory school leaving age of 16.
